Meet your Fitzroy North Doctor

Dr Katie Reid is on maternity leave, returning late 2023.

Dr Katie Reid is originally from Scotland and trained in the UK. She completed her primary medical degree and additional bachelors degree in medical science at the University of Glasgow in 2012. During her studies, she spent time working in mental health research at the University of Glasgow and was published in this field. After graduating she worked as a junior doctor across hospitals in Scotland gaining experience in a wide range of medical and surgical specialities including emergency medicine, psychiatry, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology.

 

She decided that General Practice was the place for her and completed her GP speciality training in Glasgow in 2018. She emigrated to Australia soon after and became a fellow of the RACGP. Since moving to Melbourne she has loved building new patient relationships, developing a coffee addiction and the much-improved weather!

 

She aims to empower patients, through good communication and partnership, to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. She is experienced in women's and sexual health, including Implanon insertion, cervical screening, STI screening and treatment and PrEP prescribing and IUD insertions/removals. She also has an interest in managing mental health and chronic illness but loves seeing everyone from babies to older adults to newly pregnant first-time Mums.

 

She values the human side of medicine, being thorough, and aims to make seeing a doctor as stress-free as possible. She loves going on micro-adventures and a dream day off is an open water swim promptly followed by pastries or cake.
