Dr Emily MacDonald GP The Neighbourhood Clinic




Dr. Emily MacDonald undertook her medical training in London, UK and graduated from University College London in 2003. She then travelled extensively working and volunteering in remote areas of countries including South India, where she treated emergencies such as poisoning and kerosene burns, performed caesarian sections, skin grafts, gained training in epidural and spinal anaesthesia, and treated tropical and infectious diseases. Her travels then brought her to Melbourne for a couple of years where she trained in Emergency Medicine at Austin Health.

Dr MacDonald returned to the UK in 2007 to train as a GP and migrated to Australia in 2013 with her husband and 2 young boys, working as a GP in and around Perth before relocating to Melbourne in 2020. She has been involved with teaching students both here and overseas drawing on her varied experience, and feels very lucky to have had the chance to work and see medicine in such diverse and extraordinary places. She will carry these experiences with her throughout her medical career.

Dr MacDonald enjoys all aspects of General Practice with special interests in Women's Health (including Implanon and Mirena Insertion) and Children’s Health, Minor Surgery, Dermatology, Skin Checks and Chronic Disease Management.

When she is not at work Dr Emily can be found bike riding with the family, walking the dog and enjoying the great outdoors.
