Dr Ruth Buckmaster is a Clinical Psychologist with a range of experience working with adults and children in public and private health services. Ruth’s previous role was in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based interventions to children and their families. Prior to this, Ruth worked in an addiction service for adults with opiate dependence. She has also worked in adult primary care, adult mental health, children’s primary care and disability services and has a range of experience in working with anxiety, mood, obsessive compulsive and trauma related disorders.
Ruth conducts assessments and therapeutic interventions with an emphasis on holistic and person-centred care. Ruth’s primary aim in meeting with clients is to make them feel comfortable and at ease in the therapeutic setting. She adopts an integrative approach in her work, encompassing elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, schema therapy, emotion focused therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, mindfulness and systemic family therapy. She also has specialist experience in working with self-harm, trauma and family relationship difficulties.
