M.H.Sci (Osteo), B.Sc. (Clin.Sci.)

Nick has a Masters in Osteopathy gained from Victoria University where he completed his masters study on the effectiveness of cranial osteopathy in treating juvenile asthma. He is deeply interested in the philosophy of osteopathy, in particular the body's ability to heal itself, an idea always in the back of his mind when working with patients. Nick is continually updating his skills at seminars and workshops. He has a particular interest in the fascial-connective tissue system, which acts like a glue holding the body together. Through working with these tissues Nick aims to identify long held maladaptive patterns that are often responsible for slowing the healing process and incomplete resolution of sometimes very old injuries.
More recently he has undergone further study into the area of visceral osteopathy with the Barral Institute. These studies focus on the structure and functioning of the organ systems, in particular the gastro-intestinal tract, liver, kidneys, and respiratory systems to better understand the management of digestive problems, and breathing difficulties such as asthma.

Nick has been fortunate to work along side a varied and skilled bunch of therapists and practitioners over the years forming close relationships and sharing knowledge with Pilates instructors, yogis, naturopaths, councillors and many others. He has also worked along side very highly regarded orthopaedic surgeons in Mumbai, India as an osteopathic tutor and consultant at one of the country’s leading Private sports medicine hospitals.
These experiences have allowed Nick to develop an expansive view on health and wellbeing. He couples this with his refined sense of touch he has been crafting over the better part of a decade to assess, diagnose and treat musculo-skeletal conditions. Nick aims to be very proficient in the treatment of spinal conditions such as low back and neck pain and their ongoing management. He also enjoys all areas of general osteopathic practice from headaches and TMJ (jaw) dysfunction to ankle and foot problems and everything in-between.
For Nick however one of the best ways to learn is through direct experience and so he is constantly observing and working with his own body through yoga and various movement practices, meditation, breath work and things that perhaps don’t yet have a name.

His latest adventure was a 540km solo hike through the mountains in Turkey with just his backpack, boots and a keen mind problem solving his niggles before they became injuries. He advocates the same to all his patients, to be curious about their bodies, to get to know them like a friend and understand their strengths, weaknesses, tension and habits.

Nicholas provides Osteopathy to Fitzroy North, Fitzroy, Carlton North, Carlton, Abbotsford, Clifton Hill, Collingwood, Northcote, Thornbury, Brunswick, Brunswick East, Preston and Fairfield.
