Meet your Fitzroy North Doctor

Dr Oi Mun Chan GP doctor The Neighbourhood Clinic

DR. OI MUN CHAN

GENERAL PRACTITIONER

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Oi Mun Chan moved from Malaysia to Melbourne to study medicine at the University of Melbourne, and permanently settled here after graduating. She started her medical work life as an intern at Austin and Northern Health and subsequently completed her residency years there as well. She then did critical care (intensive care, anaesthesia and emergency) at Austin and Bendigo Health, followed by general medicine and geriatrics at Shepparton Health.

These experiences made her aware of the importance of preventive, holistic medicine and the importance of treating the patient as a whole person. Oi Mun completed her general practice fellowship in rural Victoria, and is now a generalist although during her fellowship training worked in many aged care facilities and is keen to continue with this. She loves treating patients of all ages but has a special interest in chronic disease prevention/management and aged care.

Oi Mun speaks fluent Mandarin and outside of medicine she loves reading with a particular interest in history, literature and culture. She also enjoys long walks in parks and gardens (when it is not too cold or hot!) and learning about art and music. When all parties are available she also enjoys long chats with friends and family over a meal.
