DR. VINITH MENEZES
MBBS, FRACGP, DRANZCOG
A country boy from Geraldton WA, at the ripe age of 17 Vinith managed to land himself in a scholarship for medical school at the University of Western Australia, and spent an extra year in the lab researching premature birth. However his real medical education started during internship (baptism by fire) and residency years at Royal Perth Hospital (general adult) and King Edward Memorial Hospital (for women).
He loves the idea of treating the whole person – “health is not determined only by our bodies (and what we subject them to) but also our communities and minds”. He’s comfortable seeing a variety of ages from newborns to our valuable elders. However he does have a particular interest in women’s health, with a Diploma of RANZCOG and 2 subsequent years of overseeing inpatient hospital obstetrics in Perth.
Conditions which are common and he strongly feels could be managed much better in general practice include endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, urinary incontinence and menopause – so do not hesitate to bring these up with him, especially if you have been too shy to discuss these with a doctor before!
Outside of medicine – which at times threatens to take over one’s life – he enjoys leisurely sailing, competitive badminton, patting various dogs, food (eating > cooking), adventurous travel (although NOT an adrenaline junkie), sci-fi novels, piano playing and he is a proud supporter and a member of the LGBT community.
Katie provides General Practice to Fitzroy North, Fitzroy, Carlton North, Carlton, Abbotsford, Clifton Hill, Collingwood, Northcote, Thornbury, Brunswick, Brunswick East, Preston and Fairfield.
